In NJ, we participate in statewide collective bargaining and labor dispute resolution with trade unions representing members’ employees. On a multi-national level, in conjunction with our parent association, SWACCA, we participate in collective bargaining and labor relations with national labor unions representing specialties in the industry.

DISCA is the Regional Affiliate for SWACCA (Signatory Wall and Ceiling Contractors Association) in NJ.  As a member of DISCA, you will automatically become an affiliate member with SWACCA and receive access to their information and resources.  SWACCA’s mission is to protect and grow union wall and ceiling contractors’ market share. They serve their members by promoting union wall and ceiling contractors, advocating for their unique business interests, and providing tools and resources to support their business model.

DISCA has a Scholarship Program for the children or grandchildren of management employees of companies contributing to the DISCA Industry Promotion Fund (IPF). The scholarships are to help defer the cost of college and other educational expenses for a two or four-year education at an accredited college, university or an accredited vocational school.  One of the largest local scholarships, DISCA’s award is for $5,000 renewable for up to 4 years, for a total of $20,000 per recipient. The number of recipients varies, but there has been an average of 4 per year. Applications are available online, and due by May 31st of the current year.

Conference:
Receive the member rate to the DISCA Winter Educational Conference, where you will learn the latest developments in the industry and network with colleagues in an interactive meeting format.
 
Membership Meetings:
DISCA members can attend membership meetings free of charge.  Our membership meetings typically meet three to four times a year.  Our winter meetings occur in January and February, and our Annual Meeting occurs in November.  Members convene to share their challenges and successes, identity common areas of need, and determine new directions and approaches to improve the industry.  DISCA members bring their collective experiences to actively promote union labor.
 
Webinars:
DISCA has established free training webinars for our members.  You can stay current on the latest trends and best practices in the field, and obtain certifications without leaving your desk.  DISCA’s webinars will be available in live formats and OnDemand.

Excellence in Construction Awards & Holiday Gala:
Our Annual Excellence in Construction Awards program recognizes the “Best of the Best” work performed by DISCA members.  In addition to recognition at our awards ceremony, all winners receive a 3-5 minute professional video of their project for marketing purposes.  Winners will also be featured on the DISCA website for additional promotion.
 
Annual Golf Classic:
The Annual DISCA Golf Classic is one of our largest events and a great opportunity to golf and network in a relaxed atmosphere.
 
Annual Fall Social:
Members receive special discounted rate for our annual fall social event.  DISCA Fall Social provides an excellent opportunity for contractors, associate and prospective members to network, establish and renew relationships in a fun and friendly-competitive way.

Legal services are provided by Mark Rosen of Peckar & Abramson, P.C., and are available to answer member informational requests pertaining to union labor, wage rates, and terms & conditions, etc.  DISCA provides its Contractor members up to 2 hours of legal informational requests pertaining to union labor, wage rates, terms & conditions, as well as, general legal advice at no charge.

DISCA has retained Princeton Public Affairs Group (PPAG) to represent us in all governmental and regulatory matters.  Specifically, they monitor legislative and regulatory issues impacting the construction industry and help promote the benefits of union construction.  PPAG is available to provide answers to our members regarding legislative issues and one of their speakers will provide updates once a year during a membership meeting. 

As a DISCA member, your company gets listed on our website.  Our member listing provides an opportunity to be found when anyone searches for your products or services.  We include your primary member contact information, trades/products and link to your business website.  You are just a few clicks away from a potential lead.

Online Safety Services:
In partnership with InTec, DISCA offers an eSafetyLine program for DISCA members. The eSafetyLine website is a secure and password protected site.  The primary features of the website are the new safety manual, safety database, and recordkeeping application. 
 
Safety Consulting Services:
Signature Safety provides DISCA contractor members with one 2-hour comprehensive review of all safety & health policies and procedures, one 3-hour comprehensive on-site project safety inspection (following the same guidelines as an OSHA inspection), and reasonable consultations on safety & health related matters via telephone or email.  In addition, they will provide a qualified and experienced construction safety professional to perform a comprehensive review of all safety & health policies and procedures for any DISCA member firm requesting such service.

Member Documents:
You will be able to access exclusive members-only documents: bargaining agreements, wage rate, bylaws and many others essential documents.

Flemington Car & Truck offers DISCA members 20% off dealer list price for manufacturer parts, and employee rates on select Flemington vehicle purchases and service maintenance. In addition, they will make a $200 charitable donation for every car sold to a DISCA member on behalf of the car purchaser..
